The reunion was started in 1994 by descendents of John Boltz (born in 1787) & his wife, Rachel. John decscends from Johann.
But anyone can come who descends from the immigrant, John Michael Boltz (actually born in Germany 4 Nov 1703 and his wife Maria Barbara Lauten. The immigrant, with his wife & 3 children landed in Philadelphia aboard the ship William on Oct. 31, 1737 and settled in Lancaster Co., PA. He had 2 sons, John Michael (born 23 Mar 1733 & George Jacob), plus other children.
Our reunion started with those descending from John Michael of 1733 - and from this John Michael's oldest son who was also named John Michael (born 22 Jan 1758) & his wife, Eve. This John Michael & Eve had 12 children and our line descends from their #6 child, John, born in 1787 in Berkeley Co., WV, which was then a part of VA. (After the immigrant's death the families moved to what is now WV & as the children married, many moved westward.)
With so many children each generation, there are many branches of our immigrant's tree. To date, our research focused on Johann's great grandson, John's tree. However, in 2010, we welcomed Robert Pulse to our fold. He descends from another branch on that tree. He is our research chairperson and does a wonderful job picking up from our earlier researchers to add to what we know about Johann.
John (1787) & Rachel married in "WV" & almost immediately moved to Greene Co., PA, where they stayed for a number of years until they moved west to Dearborn Co., IN. In the 1830 census they have 10 children - with one more being born in 1833. Their next move was to Ripley Co., IN. John died shortly after the 1840 census. In 1854 Rachel sold their land and she & most of the families moved west to Knox Co., MO. In the 1860 census she was living with son, Solomon, in MO.
Many of the families that attend the reunion are from John (1787) & Rachel's children. We've not had anyone come from daughter Mary's people but we think we've had those from all their other children. And in the new melennia we have branched out to include those who descend closer to Johann and Barbara Boltz.
