Stuckenberg/Stutenberg
My maternal Grandmother was Leta
Stutenberg. She was raised in the Tri-State area of Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.
I will be adding my research results here to share with others that are researching
this family. Most of my research is in paper form. I am converting it to digital
formats for posting on this web site, but that takes time.
My Research:
Note: many of my files
are in PDF format, you will need Adobe
Acrobat to view them.
- Mystery
Photo, do you know who Lottie Stuckenburg or Mrs. John Bretz was?
- Family Trees
- NEW June, 2001: Latest
tree printed from Reunion genealogy software, includes updated data provided
by Elizabeth Gerber of Henry Stutenberg's line who ended up back in St. Louis,
MO.
-
Hand drawn family tree chart. NOTE that the letters
in the black circles refer to my research notes in the next link. Also, the
original of this chart was created in an old version of MacDraw which got
corrupted. So there are no updates such as made in the above charts. But it
is on one page.

Stuckenberg/Stutenberg:
- Obituary
Index, 1905 of death notices in the St. Louis Post Dispatch at the St.
Louis Public Library web site. Names listed are BROCKSCHMIDT, ELISE R., nee
Stuckenberg (in the paper on 3/15/1905), and STUCKENBERG, J. H. (in the paper
on 5/30/1905). Several other years have also been indexed at www.slpl.lib.mo.us/libsrc/obit.htm
but I have not had time to search them. Since my branch of the Stuckenbergs
were in St. Louis before settling up river, this web site needs a lot more
viewing done.
- Book
Review: I'm Surrounded by Methodists, Diary of John Henry Wilbrandt Stuckenberg
(1835-1903), edited by David T. Hedrick and Barry Davis. John H.W. Stuckenberg
served as the chaplain of the 145th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry from September,
1862 to October, 1863. Arriving in time to witness the aftermath of Antietam,
he and the 145th Pennsylvania went on to participate in the battles of Fredericksburg,
Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. These battles as well as daily camp life
are detailed wonderfully by Stuckenberg. This book now stands as the only
history of the 145th as no regimental history was ever composed. Issued 1995,
photos, 140-page paperback, cost $ 17.00.

- A
slide presentation about the work of Fritz Stuckenberg made for the Stuckenberg
Collection of the art museum in Delmenhorst, Germany (in German). The author
is looking for missing pieces of Fritz' art, so if anyone know anything about
this, let me know and I will forward the information.
